Slack is bringing a collection of Agentforce agents to some customers’ workspaces in January, as part of its ongoing efforts to boost AI and automation.

Slack rolled out Agentforce in October, giving users the power to create AI agents for various tasks. These agents have been integrated into Slack channels as chatbots, allowing users to automate processes such as deal assistance and marketing planning. In addition, Slack has partnered with external agents from companies like Adobe Express Box and Perplexity, enhancing its automation capabilities.

Agentforce Hub in Slack

The new Agentforce hub in Slack provides users with a list of agents that can be utilized for specific tasks. Accessible from a tab on the left side of the screen, the hub offers pre-configured agents as well as the option to customize them according to individual needs. For example, users can employ agents to assist new employees in resolving technical issues or to perform marketing tasks. Moreover, companies have the ability to create their own agents exclusively for their use and add them to the hub.

Slack Actions and Agentforce Agent Builder

Slack has also introduced “Slack Actions” to all users, which works in conjunction with the Agentforce Agent Builder tool. With Slack Actions, users can configure agents to perform actions such as creating and updating Slack canvas documents, generating lists, and sending messages directly to colleagues. Furthermore, Agentforce agents will be equipped with the capability to search Slack chats and linked apps, enabling them to provide more precise and helpful responses.

Access to Features

Starting in January 2025, customers who possess both an Agentforce license and a paid Slack license will have access to all these features. This integration of AI agents through Agentforce demonstrates Slack’s recognition of the growing importance of automation and AI in the workplace. Other major software companies, including Microsoft, Asana, and Google, have also unveiled new AI tools. According to IDC analysts, the implementation of AI agents and agent workflows can potentially double productivity for many companies when executed effectively. The Agentforce hub in Slack is poised to enhance teamwork and productivity in the office, solidifying AI agents as essential tools for boosting business output in the years to come.
